WHY I STARTED THIS BLOG
I started this bog for two reasons. Firstly, as i wanted to reignite my long lost passion for amateur photography. And secondly, to record my daily life for family and friends, especially my mother at home in the UK.
I studied photography at art college and always dreamed of becoming the next Don McCullin, the celebrated Vietnam war photography. I loved shooting in black and white and processing grainy images. However living in London the closest I came to real conflict was shooting the aftermath of the Brixton Riots.
Still I had travelled the world shooting with my trusty Pentax ME Super, but over the years I had lost this passion. It became harder to shoot using film as the digital world was taking over and then my Pentax broke after 25 years service. When I took it to be repaired they told me it would cost more than buying a new camera so I walked out disappointed.
A few years went buy and then last year I finally embraced the digital revolution. I went out and bought myself a silver Leica D-Lux 3. Mainly because I had always wanted a Leica and it looked like a real camera. But it was also small enough to carry around everyday. I decided the blog was a great way to learn how to use it and get my passion back for taking photos.
Secondly, after more than 20 years of being a designer my mother still doesn’t know what I really do for a living. Having been an expat for the last thirteen years and now living in China she was only more confused. As she is too nervous to fly, she can’t come and visit, so the blog was a great way to bring my world to her.
However, she doesn’t yet know how to use a computer but this is now changing. She is joining the ‘Silver Surfers’, a local Internet club in her village for Old Age Pensioners, so she will hopefully be online soon.

Really like your blog and a great reason to start one. Think I will start my own and send you the link later. Would be great to get your opinion as you are in the creative business.
Hi Andrew, I would highly recommend starting your own photo blog. Dont worry about what people say, just do it and I am sure you will find the experience rewarding. You just have to remember to take your camera everywhere you go. Happy snapping!
It´s fun to see your photos and to read your notes: Woman soldiers in pink uniforms, Slumdog Millionaire in empty seats, Beijing in artificial white, a pissoire with Shanghai sky, clean desks, …that is great stuff.
but I miss a favicon in your url,
Ole, thanks for the compliments and glad you like the photos and and stories. I am not sure how to make a favicon in my url, so I should probably find out how to do it. In the meantime I will have to think about what image I would use?
